Our online interactive map is intended to promote responsible public beach access by sharing ramp, route, and service locations for the purpose of: adaptive access, stewardship programs, and recreational fishing. More details will come.
Importantly, separate permits are required to drive in only three local areas:
The Town of Nags Head issues seasonal ORV permits for October 1 - April 30 driving. Nags Head property owners/residents may purchase $50 permits at Town Hall ONLY. All others may purchase $100 permits at tackle shops or for online, CLICK HERE.
The Town of Kill Devil Hills (KDH) offers $25 Seasonal and $10 Temporary permits October 1 - April 30. Permits are available online, inside Town Hall, or at Stop N Shop near Ocean Bay Life Saving Station on the Beach Road. For KDH permits, CLICK HERE.
The National Park Service (NPS) provides perennial access near Oregon Inlet Campground up to Coquina Beach. The NPS also manages SEASONAL (October 15 - April 14) routes on Hatteras Island. For recent NPS ORV FAQ and online permits, CLICK HERE.
